Newest Horse portrait

This is a colored pencil painting of a young Tennessee Walking Horse named Dublin. Her coat, though appearing to be black, has undertones of reds and browns. It is very difficult to marry the cool blue highlights with warm mid tones. I nearly tore my hair out, not to mention the canvas surface trying to get it right, but learned a lot working on this piece. Continue reading
