Meet Sophie and Oliver, at four months old. Oliver is a Golden Retriever of the English Cream variety. His cousin Sophie is a Golden Doodle, a popular hybrid breed. Mom wished to capture their puppy-hood before it disappeared. This stage goes by awfully fast when busy training two dogs at once!
The reference photographs I used were taken outside. It was August. The colors were vibrant and just beginning to turn yellow as the growing season reached its full maturity. The grass was left loose to give movement as well as a little humor to the piece. I sought to capture the explosive energy of two puppies, still for just one moment.
This piece was painted with Prismacolors on 4 ply 100% rag mat board. Dimensions 24x24"
