This piece launched my career.

This is "Rude," pronounced Rudy.  He  belonged to a veterinarian for whom I worked many years.  The little 8 x10"painting was a thank you gift for allowing me to advertise my work in the office.  The piece was later chosen to be the cover of JAVMA (Journal for the American Veterinary Medical Association.)   One of my more popular images, I have sold many Rude prints.

Accepted!

I am very proud to announce, Who Rescued Whom is accepted into the prestigious 26th International Exhibition on Animals in Art, LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, Baton Rouge LA.  Out of 426 pieces entered into this show, 75 were chosen. This is one of my favorite paintings. The lighting, the subject and a hefty sprinkle of luck came together to create this image.

Getting started is difficult.

I spent weeks procrastinating over what to do next.  Getting started is so hard.  It's the commitment.  Will all those hours pan out? This portrait is for me.

It's so much fun to think that my little "Oreo" painting has a new home in Queensland Australia! Though I've never physically traveled to Australia, now I can say a tiny part of me lives there.  So cool!

Valentine's Day is on the horizon

Pueblo

Pueblo is a Strawberry Roan Appaloosa.  This recently finished  commission measures 14x18" and is painted with colored pencils on 4 ply mat board. The reference photos were taken by the client.  Lighting and attitude were a challenge in this piece. I had to work closely with my client to develop an understanding of this horse, especially as I have never met her in person. The other challenge was photographing the art-something I need to take time out to learn properly!

Who Rescued Whom wins People's Choice Award

This piece won Best in Show at the recent CPSA District Chapter 119 exhibition.  It also won People's Choice.  Sometimes I get it right.
